meds and weight loss

I really need to lose about 30 lbs.  I am 42 yrs old and my medications include Toprol, Simvistatin, and now recently added both Loestra and Synthroid 25 mg. for an enlarged thyroid.  Since starting the BC and SYnthroid, I have gained about 10 lbs.  I know that some of it is inactivity in the winter, but I don't normally gain like this.

I started the Synthroid in November, and feel MUCH better.  My levels werent that far from normal but my throid is enlarged and I was always exhausted, feeling like my brain was fuzzy, cold intolerance, etc.  I have had menstrual problems for about a year, and was diagnosed with adenomyosis by ultrasounds, D & C and a biopsy.  I had really thought it was the thyroid too, but the doctors think its just 2 separate things (the joys of being in my 40's.)

Anyway, my weight has been up and down for several years, but I am at an all time high now.  I was always quite athletic and still am fairly muscular for a woman, which helped in weightloss.  I do find that I eat when I am bored and will eat to the point of feeling miserable.  I know I have food issues and eat for every reason I can find.  if I diet and lose 5 lbs, I reward myself with ...food!

What can I do?  Are my meds affecting some of this?  Even though I can see what I do to myself with the food, I don't stop myself.

You have described all the classical symptoms of emotional eating.  Although your medications may be making it more difficult to lose weight, they are not the cause of your weight gain.  The only way I know to stop the habit of emotional eating is to understand why you eat too much when you know you shouldn't.  My book and my website can help you solve this problem.  You'll have to do some work with the program will guide you through the work step by step.  The website is www.shrinkyourself.com.  Food has become a medication for you and that means there is some degree of addiction.  Diets will never work for very long.

Thats the truth!  I have probably lost 100 lbs in the past few years, but I gain it back.  Last year I lost 22 lbs and was doing great and once I strayed I was done.  All the weight came back, plus more.  I will check out your website.  Thanks!
