reductil

I am not a child, but a woman of 44years of age. A short time ago, i was prescribed blood pressure tablets. They are only 5mg, but already have lowered my blood pressure.
I am devastated, that I needed to go on them, when my initial consultation was about a leg swelling and loosing weight as I am presently obese.
I have just learned, that feet and ankle swellings are also due to obesity and high blood pressure.
To quicken my weight loss, I wanted to go on appetite suppressants. I thought three months the most, shouldnt make a difference, in how I feel, but will certainly allow me to drop weight.
I would like an honest answer, as to whether taking any reductil will make a difference. I hope you can help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Jaquta has given you excellent advice. I would only  add that taking any medication with blood pressure medication is potentially dangerous, so you must check this out with your doctor, because depending on what medication he has you on, it could be all right or it could be dangerous.

I'm sorry about your current health concerns.  I know how devastating they can feel.

I personally don't think medication is the way to go (unless advised by a doctor).  Medication will only work in the short-term and won't foster the behavioral changes that need to take place.
My understanding is that reductil is basically an antidepressant.  I could be wrong.

My advice would be to look at this doctor's websites (shrinkyourself.com and myvirtualshrink.com).
In addition I would also visit the Weight Loss and Healthy Lifestyle expert forum and check out the doctor's earliest blog for some practical weight loss tips.

I also think that if you aren't eating for emotional reasons that education around nutrition may be beneficial.  Seeing a registered dietitian could be useful.

Honestly though I don't think medication is the answer (definitely not for the long-term).

Good luck with whatever you decide.
