can you tell what you were able to see with having the macular hole before the surgery and how difficult was it for you after the surgery,... thanks
I had the scleral buckle procedure about 8 weeks ago. About 18 months ago I had laser treatment to seal a small retinal tear. Apparently this was not sufficient and a buckle was placed on my right eye. As of today, I have no pain, and my vision has almost returned to normal. There is still some redness in the corners of my eyes. I wear glasses for nearsightedness, and in a month or so I will visit the Dr. to get a new prescription to correct the vision loss in my right eye.
sometimes contact lenses can help with magnification/minification problems in a post-scleral-buckle eye...
I had scleral buckle surgery on june 14 & had macular hole repair surgery on july 12 -still waiting for my cornea to come around and work properly- swelling & pressure are down - does this sound normal - any hope for regaining sight in my right eye???
I had the same surgery August 26th and still have approx 20% of my eye in the bubble. The vision however is remarkably good with the exception of a narrowing of the sight in that left eye. The surgeon says this should pass as healing continues and the retina adjusts. How long did it take you folks to lose the bubble?
I have been struggling with the double vision. Now after almost five months the double vision doesn't bother me (much). But this is because the brain just switches the right eye off.
It's still good for peripheral vision, a wallaby or rabbit (forget which) ran across from the right and I had no trouble spotting it.
I have several floater in my left eye, one of them is quite dark and always seems to find its way to the front when I am driving. This is why I'd really like to be able to use the right eye for driving.
I can't help but wonder what was the point in spending $5000 on surgery for this eye if I am not going to be able to use it. I suppose having limited vision is better than the blackness of the detachment.
Mine was a scleral buckle in late August and I am also struggling with the eyeglass question. I have double vision (what a nuisance) which my optometrist felt that he could not correct with glasses. My surgeon feels the double vision will self correct (I certainly hope so) given time so that I shouldn't be in a hurry to purchase glasses. Nevertheless, he suggested that if I did want to go ahead and get eyeglasses that I go to a childrens' eye doctor because they are more expderienced in dealing with problems such as mine. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks, then I'll decide whether to invest in glasses or to wait. Best of luck to you, I still feel fairly lucky because (except for the double vision) my vision is correctable.
