Sudden Blurred Vision

I need some help/advise.  I had LASIK surgery on my right eye 7 years ago.  The 1st year was trying, but after that, no problems.  My vision has been very clear except for starbursts and halos at night.  I wear a contact in my left eye.
1-1/2 weeks ago I woke up with EXTREMELY blurred vision - it would not focus.  The eye dr on call met me and at first said my cornea was scratched, then said he thought I had a virus and because of where this was located, centered on the cornea, is why I was having vision issues.  He prescribed an antibiotic, antiviral and artificial tears and a follow up the next day.  The next day my vision was better, but still blurry.  He said the continue the antiviral and tears and discontinue the antibiotic and come back in a week.  He was out of the office for the follow up but I saw a diff. dr., he said the infection was cleared up, and that I was seeing 20/20.  I am not there is a HUGE difference and I also do not think my eyes are seeing together.  The vision in my right eye feels like someone took an eraser over words, like I woke up after having slept in a contact, etc.  I have had termendous headaches etc.  He said it looks like I have inflammation on the interface and prescribed Pred Forte 1% every 3 hours while awake - 5 to 6 times/day and to come back and see him in 3 days.  My vision is still not improved.  Should it be?  Will it come back?  How long?  I'm frustrated and extremely afraid.

who cares what your doctors feel?  its YOUR EYES.  you are responsible for your own health care.

i am never, ever offended when patients want a second opinion.  in fact i applaud them for taking matters into their own hands!

I went back for a follow up today and the doctor said the inflammation is the same as on Monday.  He increased the Pred Forte to ever 2 hours and come back in a week.  Could inflammation of the interface cause this, and will my vision return to normal?  It has been 7 years since my LASIK surgery.  I'm frustrated and afraid.  Also, I have an appointment for a 2nd opinion tomorrow, I feel like I'm betraying my doctors office, should I feel like this?

It's possible you had what I had.  I started out with anterior uveitis, for which I took Pred Forte, and my vision also became blurred in one eye.

In my case it turned out to be something like 'near-point stress' where you get more short sighted as a result of your focusing muscle being overworked - this was a complication of the uveitis.

What solved it for me was to avoid wearing myopia (short sight) glasses for a couple of weeks to rest my focusing system.  I know you don't wear glasses so for you the answer would be to wear long sighted (plus prescription) glasses.  I saw improvement within days once I stopped looking at close objects with my glasses on.

Whether this is your problem depends on:

1.  Can you see clearly through a pinhole?  If so you have become more short sighted but your vision is correctable, not damaged.
2.  Is your vision is clearer in the morning, after sleeping or relaxing, or when avoiding close work?  If so it could be near-point stress and you need to get away from close work, and/or get some plus prescription glasses.

Good luck.

well someone is confused.  they're using a shotgun approach on you...you've been on antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial all in one week?  very interesting.

you need a corneal specialist.  all kinds of things are possible.
