dry eye due to allergic reaction to zylet

I am an adult who got double conjunctivitis while away on vacation. Dr prescribed ointment but I wasn't totally better when i got home so went to local eye dr  who prescribed zylet. After 2 days my eyes felt dry but he said it was the heat ( we are having a cold winter in ny)and to keep taking it with refresh drops, which I did for 10 days. Went to  a specialist at this point and he said I was allergic to zylet, it took 2 weeks to clear up allergic reaction but I still have dry eye. He has prescribed  restastis for 3 months . My question is do you think  this will be a chronic condition or since its an allergic reaction will I be better soon? When I wake up my eyes are so dry I  have to put drops in immediately, but during the day and evening I am fine  and only put in refresh every 5 -6 hours when I feel a little scratchy. Am very  concerned.

I also had an allergic reaction to Zylet (and also to Tobradex, which contains the same ingredient as Zylet).  My eyes returned to normal within a few weeks, although they were dry and "raw" initially.  I found that OTC lubricants were very helpful, especially the ointment-type.
