3 Year Old with Astigmatism

Hi,
My 3 year old has been diagnosed for Astigmatism (  dilation test). Her prescription says:

R :  +1.75/ -3.5 X 175
L:    +1.50/ -2.75 X 168

Wanted to know whether this is mild , moderate or severe case of astigmatism ? Also, I have seen some posts which says in young children sometimes it gets better with age, Is that true ?

What should we be doing ( other than getting her glasses) and what should we expect in future?

1. Astigmaism is very common and not heriditary.
2. You should see the ophthalmologist of your choice as often as he/she tells you.
3. I no longer do pediatrics. The pediatric ophthalmologist in our group (Discover Vision Centers 816 478-1230) is Nathan Hamaker MD.  Be sure you ask specifically for him.

Thanks Dr

We do not have Astimatism in the family and was surprised when my daughter had it. Is it usual ?

Also, how frequently we should be seeing the opthalmologist.

I noticed that you practice in Kansas City and actually I will living there for a month or two. May be I should take an appointment with you and get a second opinion

thanks again
