6-yr-old daughter has been prescribed +1.50/+5.00

Is the prescription too high? +1.50/+5.00?   I, nor my husband, or her sister for that fact have ever had any problems with our vision.  When they did vision screening in Pre-K and in Kindergarten we got follow-up letters that she needed a follow-up but I thought she just didn't cooperate with the testing or was playing them because she does not tilt her head, she does not turn her head to look at things, her eyes do not cross at any time.  The one eye does not seem lazy.  Every one in our very large immediate family, teachers, etc. have been surprised by not having noticed anything.  1st grade starts in a couple of days and I wanted to be sure that she didn't truly have a vision problem, so while checking out at Walmart, I saw the eye place, paid the 50 bucks to have her eyes examined and walked out with about $400 worth of glasses to be picked up later.  She just got them yesterday and the lady did advise she would have a little trouble adjusting.  Now, I've come across these boards and I'm wondering since the
RX is so vast in each eye if she is still going to have the same problem.  Thanks in advance for any help or advice, Allison

Remember that other children, and any blood relative has about a 20% chance of amblyopia. Break the cycle. Have everyone checked about age 2.5 to 3.0.

My daughter was seen today at Nemours and they changed her rx to OD +0.50 sphere and OS: +3.75 +.050 X 100 degrees and patching four hours a night for the amblyopia, who they felt if I would have waited much longer wouldn't have been able to correct it.  20/80, left eye.  So you definitely got me there when I needed to, so I very much appreciate your help in steering me in the right direction and Walmart agreed to change all the RX's with no problem at no additional charge.  Plus we are all going to get our eyes checked now.  Thanks again, Allison, you  definitely saved a little girl's eyesight in  posting back on this forum or I wouldn't have gone for the second opinion,

If the RX is OD +1.25 and OS is +5.00 then its highly unlikely that  she can wear this comfortably and in most cases the +5.00 eye is amblyopia and may need to try occlusive therapy.

See a pediatric ophthalmologist for a second opnion and a fresh look at the problem. Make sure all you children are checked as this is a hereditary problem that can affect brothers, sisters, cousins and grandchildren.

Thank you for responding to my post.  The prescription reads /OD, circle around the OD, +1.25 (looks like zh or some other scrawled two initials lower case in cusive writing, I will have to call to ask what that is)  Then next line underneath it says OS, circle around the OS + 5.00 (Again with what appears to be a lower case cursive z into an s or l or maybe h)  Then with a forward slash out to the right of both lines it says Polycarb aspheric.  AR coating and UV coating.  They do seem to be helping her but like reading with her tonight things are very blurry in the one eye with the glasses.  Just trying to ensure I'm able to help her and understand if I need to get the RX adjusted.   She has had a lot of anxiety about being called on in class for a few years, like throwing up on the way to school for months-type of anxiety, even though she loved her teacher, and now I wonder if it was because everything was blurry and she didn't want to answer.  She's a very brash, outgoing, but also super sensitive little thing.  Thanks again for answering my post, Allison

You have not posted a valid glasses RX

It should look like this

OD (or RE)  XXX sphere + or - XXX cyllinder axis XXX degrees

Where XXX are the numbers.  Then there will be OS or LE for the other eye.
