I do have an eye appointment with an ophthalmologist next week, but I guess I'm curious maybe what I should be prepared for, and also if anyone else has simular problems. I am a 27 year old female. Here are my symptoms that are to do with my eyes-
In both eyes I have blurred vision and double vision that comes and goes. Sometimes I can see just fine, other times I struggle. I have always had perfect vision up until recently. I also have minor pain with the eyes that also comes and goes.
With the right eye only I experience A LOT of eye floaters that are almost constant (either squiggly lines, dots, or lines with dots throughout them.) I also get a burning stabbing pain behind my eye. Sometimes it hurts to move my eye ball to the sides and up and down. I also sometimes feel like it is almost harder for me to move my eye, and when I do move them I have to refocus them. About 2 weeks ago I got a severe pain in that eye and I couldn't move it. I could only see things straight on. It lasted maybe a hour or two than went away, I knew I had an appointment with my pcp a couple of days later, so I just waited.
I do have a lot of other symptoms that I am experiencing, too many to list. The most severe are numbness, weakness, nausea, and dizziness. My doctor thought it was MS and so he sent me in for an MRI and it was clean. I have been tested for a lot of things that can be tested with blood test like, diabetes, lyme disease, thyroid, vitamin deficiency, etc. Everything has all come up normal. He now wonders if maybe it is fibromyalgia.
I have a appointment with a hearing and balance clinic to have the balance test performed next week to see if they can at least see the cause of the dizziness. He wants me to have an LP done, but is waiting until I get the results from the ophthalmologist and the balance test.
I thought that maybe it might be optic neuritis, from what I have read when looking up my symptoms, but wouldn't it have showed up on the MRI? A friend of mine that has MS and has had optic neuritis said that it wouldn't show up unless the doctor told them to look at the eye, is this true?
With the eye symptoms that I am having and the other symptoms, does anyone have any idea what I might be hearing from the eye doctor? What they might be doing at my appointment? Any ideas what is wrong with me...lol?
