You could have detached your retina, which is a very serious condition. One that will NOT improve with time, and the longer you wait, the more vision you could lose.
Make sure you go to an eye doctor who is trained in seeing the back of the retina. What you really want is a fundus exam (where they take a small lens and examine the back of your eye, the retina, in major detail. Do not just pick an optometrist, they are not trained and educated the same way.
