Halos After Crystalens Surgery

I had a cataract surgery last Monday the 16th, and a crystalens implant. My distance vision was much clearer immediately. Close up,  I am still adjusting which is understandable. I however have terrible halos. In the day time I can try to avoid them,  but at night, I have had to ride in the car with my eyes closed to avoid being dizzy. My Drs office said it will go away in a few weeks, but I am not sure. No one mentioned the possibility  even of this problem before my surgery. The only reason I had the surgery was to improve my vision for driving at night. With the halos I have made it even worse. Will they go away? Is there anything that can be done to get rid of them?

It takes 5 weeks for complete healing, so your Crystalens may not settle in until then.  It's now been 9 weeks for my Crystalens HD and I do not get halos.  I do get starbursts when I look at spot lights.  I do have some glare, but that may be due to clouding of the capsule behind the CL.

There are no guarantees, but it is likely that the halos and glare will diminish significantly. Is your eye still dilated? My eyes were dilated for 2-3 weeks after the Crystalens procedure, which temporarily caused more glare than I ended up with later. I think I had more starbursts than halos, but am not certain.

Hopefully you have confidence in your doctor, and hopefully that confidence is warranted, in which case all should be well in a few weeks. Your doctor might also be able to provide advice and/or medication that would ease the symptoms if you need to travel in a car at night a lot over the next couple weeks.
