Are my contacts too strong?

I decided recently to try contacts for the first time, because I was having trouble seeing stuff written on the board and on the powerpoint projector board in class.  Also, sometimes my eyes would feel tired really early in the day (even after having plenty of sleep the night before), and I thought maybe it was from eye strain during class.  I had no problem reading close books or seeing close up.

So its been a week since I got an eye exam and fitted for contacts.  I went in for a contact follow up today and he adjusted my right contact lens.  I told him it felt like the right one was a bit blurry, and my eye was watering a bit, and that I felt like I had to try and focus more.  The left eye was left the same.  After driving home I noticed that I felt a slight bit nauseous and I felt a headache coming on.

Here is the prescription he gave me:

Glasses:

OD: -.75, -.25, 090    (Sphere, Cyl, Axis)
OS: -1.00, -.25, 005  (Sphere, Cyl, Axis)

Contacts - Acuvue Oasys 8.4/14.0:

OD: -1.25, 8.4, 14.0
OS: -1.25, 8.4, 14.0

He said I was slightly nearsighted.  Mostly I just had trouble seeing stuff on the board, and detailed objects in low light conditions, or blurry vision at night (especially road signs).

Does it make any sense that my contact prescription is stronger than my eye glasses?  I have not yet got my glasses so I don't know how those look.

A glasses RX is not the same as a contact RX. There much difference in the power. These questions should be directed to your CTL fitter.

Please note my right eye felt kind of watery prior to adjustment of the right lens.  Also, I wanted to mention that it seems harder to read the computer screen or text on my cell phone with contacts in.  Might this also be an indication the prescription is too strong?
