I'm 37 and have a cataract in my left eye. I'm "quite near-sighted," as my ophthalmologist said, in both eyes. (I'm not sure, but I think I'm at about -8.) I have to have surgery on the cataract. My doctor said he could give me perfect vision in my left eye and I could wear a contact lens in my right eye, but it would be better to match my right eye to prevent eye strain.
I'm young to have a cataract, and I don't have any of the typical risk factors. My problem with matching my right eye is that if I were to develop a cataract in the right eye, then I'd be stuck matching my bad vision instead of having the vision without corrective lenses for the first time since I was about 10.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any advice would be appreciated.
