Cataract surgery - cost

I live overseas.  My opthamologist has diagnosed cataracts in both eyes - early stages.  He believes that one eye wll require surgery within six months.  I will see at least one other specialist to confirm this however I know that my vision has declined in the last year or more.  I could have the surgery done abroad but I a not confident that it would be the best.  If I have surgery in the US I must pay out of pocket.  Does anyone know what the cost would be at a major hospital in a major East Coast city?  Thanks.

Thanks.  Is the price now the same?  $3,000-$4,000?  Also I was told that an electro-cardiogram and blood tests are necessary prior to cataract surgery.  Is this always so?  I don't think these tests can be done overseas and reports sent to the US hospital, right?  And what would these tests cost in the US?  Thanks.

Prices vary,  total cost is between $3000 to $5000 for a standard IOL.
