several other members and I just had Crystalens implants and have been posting about it on the Expert (Ask a Doctor)  board. The main complaint seems to be: no close-up/reading vision without reading glasses so if you definitely want reading vision Crystalens is probably not for you.

other people have had a lot of glare and reflection, I have not had this problem. also Crystalens does not correct astigmatism, you will need an extra incision for this either at the time of surgery or later.

I just had the Cyrstalens implanted last week. My vision was cloudy for at least 6 hours, however upon wakening the cloudiness was totally gone. The doctor explained that was due to my pupils being extremely dilated. At last measurement my distance was 20/40 and reading 20/20, but I say this with some reservation. I find that I am working at obtaining these levels of acuity by purposely focusing on both near and/or far away focal points. Isn't there supposed to be a learning process with this lens?  The technician at my doctors office said she will be giving me exercises to do such as crossword puzzles, etc. to 'train' my new lens. I am both very pleased that I finally have vision in this newly corrected eye, but also a tiny bit dismayed because my first driving experience last night was awful!  I couldn't read any of the street signs with my newly implanted eye. But I will try to be patient since it has only been 4 days. I am able to read the monitor and with adequate lighting the small print in the newspaper. Something else I've noticed, when I have a contact lens in my other eye which happens to be my 'dominant eye' that eye takes over leaving the Cystalens eye as nonproductive. Therefore I have been keeping the contact lens out to force my 'new' eye' to work.   It's something I need to try to see if it works!

Would you please tell me how to find the board you mention? I just joined and have not quite figured out what is where.

Expert (Ask a Doctor)  board

Google, etc. return a lot of results. I would like to read some more on the experiences of folks that have crystalens implants.

Thanks.
