Cloudy vision after retinal detachment & cataract surgery

I had a retinal detachment on my left eye in Aug 2016 and had surgery on the next morning with Scleral buckling and gas inserted.  After gas bubbles faded out, thought vision will recover but the vision was getting poorer with cloudy and curvy vision.  In Jan 2017, had cataract surgery and thought the vision will get back to 'normal'.  Now I'm seeing cloudy vision, with halos around lights and sensitive to light.  Not sure if this is caused by dilated pupils.  Can any shed any lights if:

1. Whether my vision will be back to normal?
2. Doctor said the dilated pupil cannot be improved.  Drops or surgery are not recommended.  Suggested me to try iris pupil but may only help 30-50% of my vision

Thanks!

It is not possible to tell you whether you vision will return to normal. Sometimes it does but often, especially if macula off detachment, the vision not return to normal and sometimes very poor. Need to check with cataract surgeon to see if the membrane behind the IOL is cloudy (secondary cataract) and whether yag laser capsulotomy help. I don't know what "iris pupil" is you can try alphagan-P drops to make smaller or iris pupil contact lens.

Remember your most important eye is eye not had RD have it checked often. Know risk RD in other eye is about 5-10%
Thanks Doctor.  I had done reinforcement on my other eye 1 month after my RD from my left eye, which I know they have done 3 x round of 360 laser reinforcement.  As for the eye which had RD, my doctor mentioned the alphagan-P may lead to potential detachment.  Your suggestion of secondary cataract is a good recommendation, will check with my doctor on my next visit.

May I know if iris pupil contact lens will help my vision?  Or it only serves as a 'protection' to the sensitive light?  I'm uncertain how much iris pupil contact lens will help, and in what way.

Thanks!
Ask your doctor again I think you misunderstood. The drop that makes the pupil smaller but carries a risk of RD is pilocarpine NOT alphagan-P which does not carry increased risk RD
Thanks Doctor Hagan.  I will seek my doctor for further advise on the alphagan-P drops will help.  Many thanks again!  Really appreciate your help and advice.
Best of luck
