Concerns regarding LASIK surgery

I am planning to have a LASIK surgery. I am using glasses since I was 10 yrs old. Now I am 24. I have -3 on both the eyes. I want to get rid of the glasses. I dont want contact lenses. So LASIK seems to be an option. However, many people are facing problems after surgery. Long term effects is still not certain. The technology seems to be improving every year. Is it worth it to have this surgery considering the risks ? I dont see any other way to get rid of my glasses. I have seen some websites suggesting eye excercises. Are they really effective ?

Eye exercises to cure myopia are a complete waste of time and money.  I don't know much about medical practice in India.  In your place, I'd consult a couple of ophthalmologists specializing in LASIK to see if I were a good candidate.
