Crystalens HD 500 silicone or acrylic for diabtic?

I had cataract and my DR. He told me the Crystalens is the best choice I told him I am diabtic and that I have heard that the silicone lens is not best for diabetic the day before surgery I ask him what is this lens made of and he said it was acrylic. So my ? is-is there both silicone and acrylic Crystalens I have the HD 500.

Jodie is right, there is only a silicone crystalens.  There is concern using silicone oil at the time of retinal surgery in a patient with a silicone IOL.  The IOL can become cloudy.

However, if you have well-controlled diabetes and don't have diabetic retinopathy or any other retinal disease that is likely to require retinal surgery in the future, a silicone IOL is not a contraindication in a diabetic patient.

More incentive to keep your diabetes under good control if you choose Crystalens!
