There is a wealth of information here about the problems of Multifocal IOLs.
Both the tecnis and crystalens HD are excellent. It is not fair to say the tecnis is best because its new and experience is limited.
Ultimately you will have to make the call.
Some eye surgery practices work very hard to have patients "upgrade' to the more expensive multifocal IOLs.

If you are willing to wear glasses for some activities, you should at least consider a plain monofocal lens. They have fewer risks, and cost less.
I also work a lot with computers, and was ok wearing reading glasses but hoped to avoid glasses for intermediate/distance. That led me to Crystalens HDs in both eyes. My distance vision is "good" and still improving (5 months post-op). My intermediate vision was excellent shortly after the operations, and near was excellent a few weeks after.
Sometimes on this board there are a lot of complaints about CL lenses, and other times hardly any. I think a lot of the complaints (certainly not all of them) can be tied to one of two causes: Unrealistic expectations, and inexperienced doctors.
With any medical procedure there are unknowns and risks, so there is no way to know in advance what your outcome will be. If you happen to be in the 1% or 10% who have a bad result, it's 100% bad for you.
I don't know much about the Tecnis lens. Good luck no matter what you decide.
also anyone that has had just one eye cataract surgery could you please post your experience.
