Crystalens

I had Crystalens implanted in my left eye the end of February. The lens never flexed for mid or up close vision so all I have is distance which is great. The main problem is the eye flicks and there is a terrible glare so I cannot read comfortably, go in stores where the glare is terrible, nor have a normal seeing quality of life. The flicking is always there and drives me crazy. My doc says he doesn't know why and maybe I will get used to it. I have NOT. It appears to be a glare from the lens. I'd like to know why? Have other patients experienced this? I told the doctor I'd like to have it removed. He said to wait till Sept. to decide. Should I have another opinion as to what can be done. I am 69 and cannot imagine going through the rest of my life like this.   Thanks for your input. Kathy

Thank you both so much for responding. The drops, Dr. sound hopeful for me as I am not looking forward to the possible removal, however cannot stand this flickering glare. I have an appointment with Dr. Jim Gills in Tarpon Springs--St Lukes Hospital the end of June. I am praying for help with this annoying problem. I would like to know if any Crystalens patients have had this problem.  My doctor here has given me nothing to go on other than it may go away!!!!    I am eager to try these drops. Thank you, again. I think a second opinion is a great idea.  The crystalens does have a smaller optic at 5.0 mm than the usual implants that I use that have 6.0 mm optics.  This could potentially be the cause of the glare.  It is well known that the performance of the crystalens could diminish if the pupil dilated larger than the optic diameter.  Perhaps you have larger than average pupils.  Perhaps a drop to constrict the pupil like alphagan or pilocarpine might be a good first therepy before even considering IOL exchange.
