Does anyone have brain fog after detached retina surgery ?

I got a detached retina surgery 7-20-16, small tear, no victrecomy.  I have gloucoma some complication with high pressure and corenal scratches after.  That cleared somewhat still some Spk holes and micro scratches,  dry eye also.  Now around 8-16-16 my right side get numb and temples start pounding twice a day and I pass out asleep for 6 plus  hours. Real dizzy brain fog like feeling and eyes get real red and numb feeling more on right  surgery eye.  10-3-16  want to neurology dr. Put me on topamax 25 mg don't like that drug makes  me stupid sleepier.  But staying on it  for now.  Getting brain mri this week. I feel the brain fog coming on 30 min after waking up  ears fill up with pressure like fluid then eyes get heavy. I need to lay down.  Then around 3 pm  it's gets bad again.

Also dr sending me to ENT  MONDAY TO LOOK AT EARS.

RETINA AND EYE DR'S HAVE NO IDEAS. THERE JOB IS DONE SO THEY KIND OF PASS THE BUCK.  ANY IDEAS OUT THERE.

I DON'T REALLY HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN IT'S MORE OF A BRAIN FOG DOME TEMPLE PAIN BUT NOT MUCH. I THINK THE TOPAMAX IS OVER KILL.

So far retina Dr was unaware of topamax being a problem . Today my pressure was 17 and 15.  And neurology Dr did not know about that .  Topamax generic  manuf, called me back today and confirmed that the drug does raise eye pressure , they are calling my dr to talk to him.  Thanks for your help.  I have been on this 25 mg 7 days and 50mg 5 days so far. Going to see my glaucoma  dr 10.22.16.

Just so you know. Topamax does not raise the IOP in everyone that takes it only the very small number that have angle closure glaucoma. Best of luck

I am weaning off topamax slow, not worth it to me TO USE THAT DRUG.  I did notice my temples pounding a little more, and I noticed that  2 weeks ago when ever I put in my refesh drop advance or refesh optive drops my head stars spinning and my eye feel sleepy,  i used my xiidra drops today and my temples stared pounding like crazy for 10 minutes.  BRAIN fog is back all day now.  Worst on rainy days.
Ears fill up with pressure,  ENT  DR. SAID EARS ARE OK. ( CRAZY STUFF ).  I stopped refesh drops. I almost feel like I am poisoned.


GOING FOR LAZOR Left EYE NEXT WEEK.  FREAKING OUT A LITTLE.

I have never had or heard of a person have neurological symptoms due to artificial tears (e.g. Refresh)  nor should Xidra cause it.  Would seek some other explanation of brain fog.  Is the laser for glaucoma?

Laser is for left eye. I have  lattice degenerative retina . I guess they see some small tears so they go in to touch it up before it tears. I never want one of these eye buckel surgery  again.  
THIS brain fog is weird. I off  refesh 4 days now feel better but , not completely gone yet.  STILL on xiidra. I stopped refesh pm also that oninment made my eye want to stay closed the whole next day.  

The brain fog thing .  IT'S hit and miss throughout the day.   It's 6 am now and temples are tightening up more as I am using tablet and I can feel my ears filling up with pressure.  IT'S also first day on 25 mg of topamax weaning down. Headaches are mild for now.

My dry eye thing is still there, worst in the right eye that I have the scerla buckel put in . gets blood shot by 4 pm.
Sometimes I have to lay down to give eyes a rest.

angle closure glaucoma ? I have to ask my dr what I have.  I know i have pigmentary glaucoma since I was 26. I am 57 now.

Ps got my lazor work done on left eye, all ok

I will read up in the blog rules, later this week, as soon as my eyes clear up a little .

Ps weaning of topamax day 8 developed a wire 2 pimple rash up my left leg started on ankle then up every 8 to 10 inches over the last 3 nights.  JUST two itchy dots in 4 locations.  Funny there the same in each spot about 1-1/4" apart.  DOCTOR said it's a reaction to some ting he is not sure what. gave me a cream.

Cipla the topamax manufacturer said, it might be the new 25 mg topamax pill  I am taking but it's hard to say.

4 more days of it to use then I am done, let's see what happens in the am. reaction mild so far, no big hives.

Turns out I have arthitis in my upper neck that might be causing the swelling feeling and migrains.  WORKING on it with my dr..  my neck has been feeling fat and crackeling like popcorn.  I was so worried about eyes, it did not think about the sore neck.

Do you know how long it would take for topamax to raise my presume if I am on timinol,  brimonidine,  2 times a day and latanaprost at bed time both eyes.
Neurology r put me on topamax for migraines after eye surgery.

topomax causes acute glaucoma and the IOP can raise in both eyes to 60 or higher. It can occur anytime you are on topomax but the patients we've seen in our office it occured in the first 6-8 weeks they were on medication.

Saturday I went to dinner.  It was loud my head started to spin. I felt like an autistic child when he or she covers their ears to get away from the noise.   My head and eyes felt strained  for two days. That was a crappy feeling.  I wanted to put on headphone to hide the noise.

Your symptoms strongly suggest migraine and that is obviously what the neurologist thought as topomax is for migraine prevention. If you look at the product information brochure you will not it can cause acute glaucoma. The side effects you describe are enough to switch medicine. I would strongly suggest you contact your neurologist and tell him/her that the side effects are more than you can take. There are other medications available.
