Eye injury/Squash

Hello,

While playing squash 4 day ago I got a squash ball in the eye at a moderate speed. It was quite painful, and after the shot I could see nothing in my left eye except for a big red-white splotch for about 2 hours (nothing at all. Only light variations. The splotch was opaque and thick) . Slowly the vision returned, but was cloudy for several hours.

After 24 hours my vision was near 100% again.  The eye has been sore since then, but today I noticed that my pupil in the eye is strangely dialated. Maybe twice the size of my other pupil. What should I do?  Is this a normal process in healing.  The vision in the eye seems fine.  Thanks

Thankyou.  It sounds serious. I will see a doctor as soon as possible. Is there any danger of vision loss?  Should I take it easy physically, i.e no strenuous movements etc?

Should I remove my contacts etc?

You need to see an ophthalmologist.  Your pupil has been permanently damaged.  There also could be more serious problems in your eye such as a retinal tear.

Get to an Eye-MD as fast as possible.  After you read this message, start working on it immediately.  You should be seen today.  Squash ball injuries can cause significant internal eye bruising, and unequal pupil size is an indication of this.  You are lucky your vision has returned at all.  Go to www.aao.org to find an Eye-MD near you.  Do not to go an ER or urgent care clinic, they do not have the resources needed to examine you properly.
