EXPLANT - LENS EXCHANGE DILEMMA

I had left eye cataract surgery with a ReStor multifocal lens implanted in March 2014.  Day of surgery;  intraocular pressure elevated, eye tapped & glaucoma meds started.  My eye was tapped five times the first week.  I couldn't evaluate my vision for the first week until eye pressure was under control due to cloudiness & rainbows.  Eye pressure never went back to pre-surgery level of 18.  Currently, June 2014, I've been told my pressure is "high normal"  My current vision in left eye is 20/25, hazy and not as sharp as my right eye with my glasses on.  I cannot read (only distance) & my night vision is blurry, greasy, with glaring halos & concentric circles around lights. My left eye constantly tears during my waking hours & always seems to be in a state of irritation. I was supposed to have my right eye done two weeks after my left eye. My right eye cataract is small & not causing any visual problems at this time.  I decided to wait until my left eye was seeing better.
My surgeon said he would exchange the left ReStor lens for a monofocal standard lens, states he has done this before with success but there are no guarantees.  After he told me the risk factors, I'm afraid to have the exchange done for fear of an unsuccessful outcome, further damage & more surgery.  Also, he stated the eye pressure problem could happen again - another added risk factor.
I am devastated!  I'm still (was) working, socially active, did enjoy reading & driving. My eye problem has taken a toll on my lifestyle.  I feel damned if I do and damned if I don't. Perhaps, I would feel more comfortable with an "Explant Specialist" but I don't think they exist. I've gone for two second opinions & was told to return to my original surgeon as neither could detect a problem upon examination.  One said it sometimes takes time to adapt the other said he was not in the business of making recommendations.  They don't seem to want to get involved.

Thanks for the response.  The surgeon I went to had 20 some years experience with a very busy practice & no associates.  I thought he would be my best choice. I think he is a good doc not sure he is a great doc,  How does one know unless your in the business.  The two second opinions I had said the lens appeared to be centered correctly and were familiar with my surgeon.  One of them said I'm sure your doctor has removed more than I have; claimed he only re-moved one in the last ten years.  I said "sounds like I should have gone to you first".  He didn't comment. I'm not sure if he meant his practice wasn't as big or if his skill was better. Can anyone tell me the name of a great ophthalmologist - I'm running out of time & money.  From:  Eyecry

This is Grammy 10.  sounds like our problems are very similar although I had the Crystalens implanted in my right eye, which is my dominant eye (or was) .  Just came back from the eye doc and he still finds no problem and wants me to see yet another dr (4th one) to see if my issue is the optic nerve.  Funny, I didn't have any of these problems until after the implant and now I am miserable.   Let me know if you find out any info on specialists who explant these things.
