Eye injuries from indoor tanning?

I have looked and looked online for information about what would happen to your eyes if they were injured from indoor tanning, but all I can find is sites saying "wear eye protection."  I would like to know the EFFECTS that tanning has on your eyes, because for a while I thought if you closed your eyes you were good, so I wasn't using any eye protection.  I don't have any obvious injuries, but my depth perception at night seems to have gotten a lot worse, and I'm wondering if that could be the issue.  Plus I'm also just interested to learn the effects.
