At your age if the +4.00 eye doesn't have amblyopia it won't develop it. Your condition is call hyperopic aneisometrophia (unequal refraction and is a frequent cause of reduced vision or amblyopia in the more farsighted eye).
Yes you can see 20/20 without glasses but the purpose of the glasses is to qualize your vision and also relieve your eyes of the extra stress associated with near work tasks when you don't have the glasses on.
If you are happy with the glasses and they relieve eye strain I don't see why you would go back.
Out of curiosity are you seeing an Optometrist (non-physician, limited care provider [will have OD after his/her name) or an Ophthalmologist (MD eye physician with a MD after his/her name).
I suspect an optom, hense the extra visits which add expense to you.

i am 27 years old. i went in for my follow up today and told my doctor that i just can't adjust to the prescription. She back off the prescription and i was able to see 20/20 both eyes, but i can also see 20/20 without them. the orginal prescription was +2.00 and +4.00, she back them off to +1.00 and +2.00. she wants to see me back in 3 months. in addition to my previous questions, how important is it for me to keep my appointments.
thanks.
Depends on your age, the amount of full hyperopia and the amount that your eyes "accepted". Send that information and I may be able to comment.
