I am what they call a "steroid responder". I took steroid drops in my eye after cataract surgery and my IOP shot up from 15mmHg to 44mmHg within a matter of 7 days. But then it went back to normal in a matter of days with eye drops.
I have been taking Alphagan P for my Glaucoma. The doctor I currently have said it started from when I was Taking Prednisone for my Gout. I have since stopped taking Prednisone, and have a new Gout doctor. What is you experience with other people and their Glaucoma related to Prednisone
There are many types of glaucoma and the most common do not hurt. It is very important that you be evaluated by an Eye MD ophthalmologist-physician. You should not see an optometrist (non-MD, non-physician, limited care provider). although some states allow an optom to treat glaucoma in my opinion it is not optimal care.

Hello,
I have had glaucoma since I was born. The pain and light sensitivity you are experiencing is because your pressure is too high. Once you are on some glaucoma medication the pressure will go down and so will the pain and light sensitivity. Everyone person is different but that is typically what happens. Glaucoma in general doesn't hurt on a daily basis if you keep taking your medicaton. Some glaucoma medication may stng a bit for a few seconds. It is important to visit the doctor regularly to make sure the pressure is controled. In essence the only pain and light sensitivity you will feel if your pressure goes high again. Hope this helps.
