Dry Eyes Condition

So I was diagnosed with having dry eyes for a year or so. Been to a couple clinics for my cataract surgery as well as my optometrist for a new glass prescription and was still told my dry eyes were pretty severe (prescribed tears to use 4 times a day) up until recently. My first cataract evaluation even when considering basic lenses such as the monofocal/toric, I was told to put tears and that they would not have surgery until a couple weeks later until it got better because of the risks of greater complications..

My most recent cataract evaluation at a new clinic a week ago the nurse told me I had a bit of dry eyes making it a bit hazy to evaluate my eyes during the measurements. However my surgeon who was a neuro-opthamologist had no mention of my dry eyes during the lens recommendation and told me to go for a multifocal. Having completed forgetten about my concern with dry eyes during the evaluation and cataract surgery, I called in the nurse the next day and wanted to reassure if I could really go for a multifocal and asked about my dry eyes. She checked with the doctor and he had said I had "no" dry eyes. So my question is can dry eyes improve to the extent where it's not noticeable (I was told there was no cure) and to the extent of being able to use premium lenses. Or do you think they are just trying to upsell multifocals?

Sometimes dry eyes even moderately severe can look normal to the doctor examining with a slit lamp. The diagnosis often is based on complaints and symptoms. I would suggest you get a second opinion.  Most neuro-ophthalmologists don't do cataract/IOL surgery. Try and find a cornea/refractive/catarct/IOL surgeon
