How much should an eye exam really cost?
Hi to ya,
I am new to this forum and this is the first health forum I've ever posted in.
Its been a few years since my last eye exam and its like anything else, if its been longer than 3 months I just don't seem to be able to remember how I handled the situation.
Some say it could be alzimers :-)
No my real question is: Why do eye exam costs vary so much from one center to the next?
Eye clinic $127
Wal Mart $49
Lenscrafters $80
Why should I go back to Lenscrafters for $80 if I can go to Wal Mart for $50

Why would you live in a really nice home with a great view that costs $115,000 when you could live in a shack next to the city dump for $10,000?
The exams at Wal Mart and Lenscrafters are both going to be done by commercial optometrists that do only glasses tests and do not do any treatment of pathology. So both are tests for glasses but little else. So if all you're interested in is testing for glasses than go to WalMarts.
If the "eye clinic" is a Eye MD physician-ophthalmologist then you are getting a complete medical eye examination for eye diseases and an exam for systemic disease like diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid eye disease, etc by a MD with a minimum of 8 years training after getting a university degree.
NEVER LOOK FOR BARGAINS IN PARACHUTES AND EYE EXAMINATIONS.
