Glaucoma and citicoline , any benefit?
My ophthalmologist has suggested that I take citicoline in tablets or solution for general health of the optic nerve. I see that there are also eye drops available. Does anyone have experience with this med? He also recommended 4 months on and then 4 months off it.
Dementia is one of the largest health problems in the developed world. If the data/studies on citicoline were on solid grounds it would be widely recommended and used. I just did a literature search on the subject and most of the favorable results are published in minor journals, non-peer reviewed journals, "predatory" journals. So the answer is we don't know at this time. In ophthalmology in the USA we do not recommend it for optic nerve disease or health.
