Heavy eyelid, strained feeling around socket of eye

I have had a problem with my right eye for 6 months now.  I have gone to both the Optometrist and Opthalmologist and they only tell me it is dry eye, but it feels like something else.  My vision is perfect and after a thorough examination, my eye is healthy inside and out and under the lids.  The problem is I get this sensation of a tired eye, heavy feeling lid on only my right eye.  There is a  feeling like there is mucous or a film (but no blurred vision problems) and pressure under my top eyelid. Sometimes feels like it is pulling or straining from within the socket around my eye.  I have also had twitching under my lower eyelid.  Left eye is perfectly normal and fine.

Eye drops help a little, but the best thing is a hot compress on the lids (top and bottom).  It comes and goes, but is annoying. What is this condition? and can I treat it to go away forever or am I stuck hot compressing my eye twice a day for the rest of my life.  I am only 39 years old.

Thanks for your help.

You have also have meibomian gland dysfunction--part of blepharitis.  Find another ophthalmologist.  You might consider a cornea and external disease specialist.
