IOL Selection

Hi,I am a 34 Male and am facing a problem of constant redness of eyes and pain especially when looking at light or source of light.Recently am dx of myopia right eye with -1.5 diopters  90 degree angle and a star shaped cataract , which needs to be operated. I need to know what type of IOL is best for me.My profession includes a considerable use  of visual media (such as projectors and laptop)for duration of 14-16 hrs.My opthal. suggests an Alcon IQ aspheric lens.
My left eye is normal with a 20/20 vision.

Hi,
I have just had...eye surgery on Both eyes....I was -20..yes correct....surgeon used Alcon lenses....Excellent lens ..as is Tecnis....however whilst both are Equally as good...the important factor is if your physician is use to Alcon ...than I would favour this ...as he will be very familiar with the prescription calculations.

Now the VERY VERY IMPORTANT part......PLEASE PLEASE....be sure of the prescription you require for your type of work...DO NOT LET THE PRESCRIPTION GOTO THE PLUS side ......and blended vision is probably your best choice....

I would say stick to monovision..(read the multivision lens outcomes on here and you will see why)

Blended vision will really work well....on this site there is an excellent small post ...by a doctor on Blended vision calculation.

I dont have link but have a screen shot ...if you require please send message and i will email back to you.

Your eye, your choice.  As I said above I would go monofical aspheric IOL like Tecnis.

Thank you John for your response, I would like to know whether I should opt for Monofocal or multivision?

Cataracts are not painful so you may need to look for a cause to your redness and pain.

An Alcon spheric is a good choice. I would chose a Tecnis aspheric IOL for my eye.
