I've had uveitis for three years, treated with cortisone drops, pred forte drops, dilating drops and a cortisone shot in left eye. Lost most of vision in that eye because optic nerve was mostly destroyed.
I did research on websites, and saw that uveitis is an auto immune disease and saw a rheumatologist who prescribed Methotrexate. Uveitis went into remission immediately, and I haven't had a recurrence in 2 years!
Unfortunately I developed a cataract in that left eye, which is inoperable and ended all vision in that eye.
Good luck to you.
I also experienced Uveitis last spring with pain and loss of vision--it took about week for my vision to come to normal--I was at the Opthamalogist about every 2-3 days to watch it and check the pressure which was up and down. Then after my vision came back I had a follow-up about 2 weeks later. You need to contact your Opthamalogist immediately if you notice anything different after you get your vision back.
Uveitis is common and must be treated adequately. Sometimes the underlying cause is difficult to find. Lupus, sinus infections, even bad teeth have been implicated--the list is nearly endless. Chances are good that you will recover if you knock out the inflammation quickly. Also, recurrences are common. I treated a classmate of mine with bilateral uveitis once with a lymphoid tumor the size of a lemon in his chest--it melted away with cortisone treatment along with the uveitis. By the way a chest xray wouldn't be a bad idea.
