Is this a problem with my vision or something else? please help!

I wear prescription glasses to see far distances , and have been having issues with light. where I can see the rays or energy coming from the light, the best way I describe it is when some people draw the sun and they draw the lines or rays coming from the sun  this is what i see with lights I can see these rays or beams with almost any light from street lights to TV/phone/computer screens  it is not bad during the day but during the night its got to the point where I can't drive because of the street lights. cars, traffic lights and billboards  I don't think that this is normal but i have been trying to avoid telling my doctor because my mom said he might try to put me a psychotic medication because I sound delusional but I know what I see what should i do? I'm 25 years old.

HUGE NEW INFORMATION!  You wear contact? 99% of the time the problem is the contacts have caused 1) irregular cornea astigmatism and/or 2. Corneal edema (swelling)

Stop wearing your contacts. It may take several months for your cornea to regain its normal shape and the swelling go away.

See a Eye MD ophthalmologist, perhaps a corneal specialist. Have a corneal topography which can tell how much your cornea is warped. This problem is as common as dirt. Tell your mother. stop working about being a mental problem.

I wish it was that simple Dr, but I have. The same problem without them on. I even went back to see if maybe the prescription in the glasses wasn't right when it first started to happen but that wasn't the case. It's. The same. With my contact lenses. The examiner told me that the pressure in my eyes wasn't. Problematic and she basically. Gave me the same story my mom gave me only in a professional words. I might be experiencing. Delusion but I never had any problems with mental health
