What could cause one optic nerve to be thicker and longer?
About a month ago my left eye started feeling weird, hard to explain, but weird. I have glaucoma, so went to the eye doctor, all was the same with the glaucoma but that eye has proptosed a little, was at 20mm (normal range is 18-20). We opted to wait a month and recheck, when I did it was at 21mm so I had a CT scan done. The scan came back normal except that the optic nerve in the left eye is thickened and longer. My ophthalmologist is now wanting to refer me to a neuro-opthalmologist. I am going to go, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what could cause this?

I would follow the recommendation to see a neuro-ophthalmologist. Glaucoma should not cause that. There are some causes of proptosis that would not show up on orbit CT.
