Can I expect an increase in vision after cataract surgery

I had cataract surgery last October and expected better vision but my vision was the same before and after the surgery.  My left eye needs the cataract removed and I'm hesitant to have it done.  My left eye prescription is -.25 sph, +.50 cyl and 167degree axis.  I would have a monofocal lens put in.  What type of increase in vision can I expect?

The doctor measured my eye for my last surgery so there was no problem with the technican.  This doctor has been listed as a top doc by other doctors in the area for the past 4 years.  I like him but wonder if I should see someone else for my surgery.  Just don't know what to do about this.  Could another doctor tell me if I had the correct lens put in?  I have the information on the lens but don't have the measurements.  Is this something I will need to get a second opinion on the eye that is already done.

My preop in my right eye was -.25 sph,+1.50 cyl, 17 axis.  After surgery was -l.50 sph, +1.00 cyl, 40 axis.  He surprised that it did not get better and said to just get glasses.  Now my second eye has to be done, would you have another doctor do it?

Looking at the prescription in my first post would I get better correction results?

A friend could not even see the first letter on the eye chart before her surgery and after had 20/20 and 20/25.  To be honest I expected better results after the first surgery.

Get a second opinion.  You did not mention your best corrected preop vision and the post op vision.
