Smoking is horrendous for eyes and vision. Increases risk markedly of cataracts, macular degenerations, branch and central retinal vein occlusions, ischemic macular disease, intensifies glaucoma damage, reduces night vision, increases risk of embolic retinal artery diseases and visual processing due to strokes.

For some ailments, even when there are benign alternatives, inhaled steroids are prescribed routinely. For some lung ailments natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics work just as well or better. In my case, better, and without the horrible side effects I suffered with inhaled steroids.
Competent Physicians use steroids only when nothing else will do, then use as little for as short of period of time as possible and educate patients on complications. There are millions of people that owe their sight and their lives to steroids (drops, shots, IV, inhaled, pills).
