Mascular Degeneration/Cataract Surgery

I have the beginnings of dry macular degeneration in my left eye. I saw a retinologist and he said that I should have cataract surgery in the very near future. How much of a problem is that given the macular degeneration? Is there added risk? What is the result likely to be? Many thanks for your reply.

Macular degeneration does not add to the risks of cataract surgery. Cataract surgery does not make mac degen worse.
