Pain in bright sunlight

Hi, I had cataract surgery about 3 years ago, and now need to have the Yag laser which I've been putting off. I also have some corneal dystrophy. Since last summer I've noticed that my eyes quickly become painful in bright light, even if I'm wearing dark sunglasses and a visor. (I live in Germany so it's not blazing sun, just the bright sunlight on spring or summer days). This is a problem because I enrjoy walking and biking in good weather, and more than once I've had to cancel evening plans because my eyes were bothering me so much. By the next day, they're usually fine again. Does this sound like a symptom of POC or of the corneal dystrophy? or is it something unrelated? Any suggestions about what I can else I can do, other than stay indoors on sunny days?
Thanks.

Carolyn

I totally understand where you are coming from-stay after your MD on this - I have had a few that just didnt seem to understand. Hopefully YAG or a procedure can help you. I love the beach and was an outside person all my life but with the help of some eye MD's that cared am dealing with it all a bit better- As mentioned large rimmed hats and partially sealed sunglasses work- Motorcycle sunglasses can be had with prescription and are vented which eliminates fogging- ( sealed glasses do not let sunlight come in sides or top ) also ND filtered glasses may be an answer. I haven't been able to find anyone that can do the prescription-ND lenses in sealed sunglasses and have called several places on line with no success to date.

Large rim hat
sealed ( partially-vents- so they dont fog up - wasn't told that first time  and wasted a few bucks on totally sealed ) sunglasses
ND filtered sunglasses may help- check with your doc ND
=  Neutral density

You can adapt and still enjoy your activities!!!  You don't have to stay in a dungeon and don't let anyone tell you so .

Yag capsulotomy should help that a lot if there is significant PCO.

Have rest of eye check by Eye MD

Wear hat and goggle type sunglasses.
