Permanant blindness

Sir/ma'am, can u say what are the effects and diseases that causes permanant blindness to a person?

Thanks Doctor for the explanation.I lost my right eye vision when i was 10 years old because of a injury that caused cataract in my right,I didnt realise that i will lose my sight,then later my parents discovered the cataract in my eye and got operated 2 years later.But no use ,Doctors did not explain the exact cause of my blindness in my right eye.Now i m 21 years old,can no treatment for a long term can lead to permanant blindness?

It really depends on the individual.  There are a number of diseases that can lead to permanent blindness.  Also, blindness is a vague term.  There is legal blindness, functional blindness, etc.
