Pondering Rx for computer and everday eyeglasses

Hello, I've just joined here to ask about my rx for two pair of glasses, one will be used for computer work.
I told the OD at the store that I wanted to order the computer glasses online to save some $, the other pair would be ordered in their shop.  Now I'm saving to order both.
My progressives for everyday +1.75  -0.25 100 +2.50
                                           +2.25 -0.50  100 +2.50
My computer rx                    +3.25 -0.25  100 +1.00
                                           +3.75 -0.50  100 +1.00
I hate to doubt the OD, and don't understand all the numbers, but here goes.  Before I got progressives, I went through many pair of reading glasses and therefore I know the first number in the rx refers to strength of magnification; probably the last numbers too.  I just want to be able to look at my computer without tilting my head back?  So I don't understand why the computer rx is higher than the reading portion of my everyday rx (2.50, right?).  I'm also not happy that progressives were prescribed for the computer use, mostly due to cost, plus I can't understand the need.  My PC screen is about the same distance as looking down to write something, so I don't see the reason.   Can anybody help me understand?  I'm getting ready to order online and suddenly feel something is off here.

I am not a big fan of internet glasses. You get what you pay for and no after the sale service.

The computer glasses have bigger numbers because the middle of the lens is not focused at 20 feet like your regular glasses but at your computer screen.  Those two glasses are essentially the same in the intermediate and near, computer glass has no distance RX
