Post laser therapy, there is a spot when blinking

I was told last week I had a mild retinal detachment & retinal tear. The Dr did a laser in the office to try and fix the problem. I was also told an air bubble was placed into the eye to help keep the retina in place. The Dr I saw was not my normal Dr and I felt very rushed and I did not get alot, if any, information about the situation even when I asked.

I went to my normal retinal specialist yesterday and was told that I have no tear or detachment, and there definitely is no air bubble in my eye. While this is good news, I am not noticing a dark flash or spot in my left eye when blinking only. It's not noticeable in the dark, only when it's light, and especially when i look to my left.

Is this from the lasering? Can I expect this to go away after everything heals? I didn't notice it the first 4 days, but toady it's very noticeable.

Anyone else have any information or similar situation?

Thanks for any help!

I would check with your surgeon. A laser "burn" to completely heal and form adhesions that close holes/tears takes 3-6 weeks.

Yes almost all patients that I have treated or taken care of that are aware of light/dark images arising from retinal stimulation from laser or cryo therapy (freezing hole shut) have had it fade away over a period of several weeks.

Thanks Dr Hagan. In your experience, once the laser marks heal is there a chance these spots I'm seeing could subside?

I had a follow up today with my normal opthamologist he also sees no detachment or tear, and there is no air bubble. Could it heal that quickly (6 days)?

Depending on the size and location of the tear and the amount of treatment it could be the laser marks. This is a question though for your surgeon.
