Problems with ReStor lanes

I had LASIK surgery on both eyes 12 years ago. Was told 2 years ago that heavy cateracts had developed on both eyes as result of LASIK. Had cateract removal and ReStor lenses implants in both eyes.  Had a YAG procedure. Have never been able to read since last surgery. Had LASIK on right eye. Have sensation of lenses "moving around" like regular contact lenses and have cloudy spots that move around in field of vision. Now have contact lenses for distance and use glasses over contacts for reading.  Still do not have good vision. Miserable!

Islandgirlruth     I am enbarking on a study with faculty at the University of Kansas, Department of Ophthalmology on cases like yours. We are interested in people that have had blurred vision, trouble with light arcs, either dark or light spots mission in the peripheral vision and that have had to undergo a neuroophthalmology work up especially if MRI or CT scans were done and that the final result is that it was due to the multifocal IOL.

We have about 5-6 cases so far. We are presently working on getting approval from the research committees at the U of K hospital to proceed. Our next step will to get specifics of the cases.

If you would be interested in participating in this study. (It would probably involve either a telephone interview or getting copy of your report from Emory) please let me know. You can go to the "Doctors" heading on the top menu bar on this page and go to my profile. It has my office phone number on it. You can call and ask to speak to Dr. Hagan's technician "Lanette" or leave a call back number. You need to indicate that you are interested in participating in Dr. Hagan's Kansas University eye study.

We would be grateful for your participation. Our research indicates that such a study has NOT been presented in either the ophthalmology or neurology medical journals

Having ReSTOR Lens Removed on Monday. -only in Left Eye. Never could focus on BIG "E" on eye chart....
Foggy, Cloudy etc. I am with you...this lens isn't for me. I am convicted with what I have read and been told by doctor etc. Knowing the brain has a lot to do with each person getting use to this lens. We all know the brain has 2 parts....I have many friend who has this lens -not trouble....then there is me I have major trouble with this multi-focus lens...remembering the brain has something to do with this. My brain works on the creative side (Right Side)...Then there is the (Left Side).
I truly wonder if this has something to do with it.
All the Best!

1. Lasik does NOT cause cataracts. Overwhelming scientific proof of this exists.
2. Use the search feature and archives to read abou the problems with RESTOR. You may have "vasoline vision".
3. Get a second and third opinion from eye MD ophthalmolgists. You may need the IOL removed. Find a eye md at www.aao.org
