Can I join the club? I've had three cataract operations, the third one an exchange and I have the Crystalens, which my surgeon charged me several thousand dollars for and assured me would solve ALL my problems. The right was done first, about two years ago, and was great. Now, not so great. In fact not good at all and I need the YAG laser, at least, as well as further astigmatism correction. The first operation was relatively a breeze. The second a year later on my left eye was long and painful and when I recovered I couldn't focus any closer than six feet. After six months of scr_wing around my doctor agreed to replace the lens he'd put in my left eye with the samekind he'd used in my right eye. During that operation my iris was torn because of floppy iris syndrome. I take Finasteride for enlarged prostate and he said it wasn't a problem. Other people hve different opinions. I have a torn iris. My eyes no longer accomodate to glare properly and the vision in my formerly great right eye si now not good at all. I have constantly dry eyes and tons of floaters and I just had a bad spike of interocular pressure. All after his assurances that all my problems would be over and the risks were very small. Incidentally, my surgeon committed suicide six months after my third operation. What a mess! Don't EVER believe cataract surgery is a walk in the park. I would have been blind without it and I can see pretty good sometimes, but these results are very hard to live with.
