I am scheduled to have ptergium removed in my left eye next week w/Dr Hovanesian (Harvard Eye) I have red some terrible things gone wrong on this website...like double vision, droopy eyelid, blurriness. Now i am having 2nd thoughts. This condition has diminished the quality of my life drastically. It's awful & painful. I have red some great stories on other websites ...success stories also. My question is this..How common are complications?.......Thanks!
Pride goeth before the fall. Nothing in medicine and surgery is or ever will be "PERFECT" the acronym is poorly chosen and reeks of hubris.

I have pterygium also and have found out from extensive research that Professor Lawrence Hirst of Australia has the best method of pterygium removal, he has done a little under 1000 surgeries with only one recurrence. Google him to see his research paper on (Pterygium Extended Removal Followed by Extended Conjunctival Transplant) P.E.R.F.E.C.T
Get a second opinion from a Eye MD cornea specialist. Find one near you at www.aao.org Contacts generally make pterygium bigger
