This is just a general comment about LASIK, as nobody was able to effectively address out post-LASIK troubles so far.
My 18 year old, prefectly healthy son had just have LASIK procedure done about 3 months ago in hopes to make it easier for him to tolerate his glasses. He was exteremely far-sighted (about 9.5), so they were trying to put him in a more manageable range prescription-wise.
About two months after LASIK he was diagnosed with catarat in both of his eyes and a retinal tear and hemmarage in one eye. That is given that there was ABSOLUTELY NO family history of cataract, no trauma, no steriod's use at all and no pre-existing conditions before LASIK.
Both his LASIK surgeon and his retinal specialist have absolutely no idea what caused all this in a a healthy 18 year old yong man, but his LASIK surgeon is absolutely sure it was not because of what hi has done.
Great answer, isn't is: "have no idea what that happened, but 100% guarantee I have not caused that"!
I would like to pass this comment to ALL, who is considering LASIK : think twice!!!! Are you ready to go through something like that, while nobody has any idea why you have to go through it, what caused it and there is no way to reverse it! If you are thinking about LASIK just because you are tired of wearing your glasses, but you can tolerate them quite well, my advice to you - DON'T! If one of the best specialists in mid-West has no idea what happened to my son's healthy eyes after his procedure, how could anyone be guaranteed from getting horrible unpredictable results, or whatever you want to call it.
As long as nobody is able to effectively explain to us what caused my son to have developed his conditions less than two months after LASIK, I will not be able to buy into the fact that it was not LASIK.
What would you think, if it were your child???
