Whenever I look up or down there is pain, I cannot look at bright lights or television, even as i am typing this now i have the brightness on the computer screen at the minimum and there is still pain. You need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP.  You might have ruptured a blood vessel in the front of the eye and have a hyphema (blood in the front of the eye) and iritis.

This needs to be treated.

Thank you for your advice but I am not as concerned as I was before because the pain has come to an end. Now I can look up, down and any other way, there is still however some pain to bright lights but less than half of what it was yesterday or the day before. I am not sure if I need a doctor even though the eye is bloodshot. If you disagree please do tell me as I am unsure of how to proceed.

You should have an eye exam to make sure everything is ok.  Late complications include retinal detachment and very late, 10 to 20 years, glaucoma.
