Really Dry Eyes - Contact Lenses possible?

Hello,

So I have abnormally dry eyes.  Probably at least in some part due to my hyperthyroidism (that's a whole 'nother story!)

I'm one of those patients that have tried a many different contact lenses with little or no success.  Finally ended up on Oasys, which can last me half a day at best.  Oftentimes, they don't actually last more than 2 minutes before I have to take them off.  Eye drops do not help, unless I'm literally applying them every 20 seconds (which I've done).  I just have very dry eyes.

I've been reading about different treatments like punctal plugs.  Of course, I'll visit a doctor to get all my options.  But say I had some treatments for dry eyes: would I still be able to wear contact lenses, after some of these treatments?

Thanks!

Cheers

Go to Dr. hagan's blog and read the dry eye treatment posting. The odds are stacked against you and a better option might be refractive surgery (Lasik, PRK).
