Recent MRSA Diagnosis - Now Bleeding

I recently was hospitalized with eye inflammation and pain - your message board led me to a MD who suggested I get to the DR or ER asap.  I did - this was not only eye problems - inflammation/pain/swelling - which resulted in a growth behind my eye - I aquired MRSA while hospitalized.

This has been two weeks...  I now have experienced daily bleeding from my rectum in my stools (which are very loose) - the blood is apparent.  I am reluctant to go back to the hospital.  I need to know what this bleeding is in reference to...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can't comment on the choice of antibiotics. Discuss that with your MDs. Yes your boyfriend is at risk for MRSA and proper precautions need to be taken. Discuss those with your MDs also.

I guess I should have also mentioned that I was only treated for 5 days before they released me. My eye swelling was down considerably but the abcess behind my eye was still visable on the MRI. I was sent home with my boyfriend, who was told that there was no problems with mrsa that is was everywhere the media just made a big fuss about nothing. The only precautions given was the he needed to wash his hands if he touched my mrsa infected eye. They gave me a 7 day prescription for 2 oral antibiotics, cipro and clindamycin hcl plus bacitracin ointment. Is this treatment going to be effective and is my live in boy friend in danger of getting MRSA?

You should call your personal physician ASAP and tell him/her about the bleeding. It could be due to the antibiotics but there are a number of serious things including color cancer. You also need to touch base with your ophthalmologist.

I was given antibiotics to take for 10 days (after a 5 day hospital stay).  Whic after internet research I found out these particular antibiotics are inaffective against MRSA.  As was the antibiotic ointment prescribed for my eye.
