Recovery time

I had a vitrectomy to repair a macular hole 9 months ago and have been told that it is likely that i will develop a cataract.
I have to go for a check up next week and i was wondering that if i do have a cataract how long is the recovery time,i am retired so i don't have to work ,but i do look after my 8 month old grandson while my daughter works.
I have heard that you can't do any bending and lifting after a cataract operation, but not sure for how long.
