My other half was told 2 months ago that the sac attached to the retina was coming away. He has seen the consultant ophthalmologist at our local hospital 4 times over that period to check progress. His next appointment was to be in 2 weeks.
Just over a week ago he noticed a change in that eye which he described as another cobweb. He called the consultants secretary trying to get an answer about seeing the opthalmologist now but was never called back. Yesterday he finally went to the hospital and saw an associate who told him he saw a tear and he was going to perform laser treatment later that afternoon. When the time came and he had all of the drops/cups etc., the associate could no longer find the tear. He wants him to go back in 4 days for another check.
My questions are;
- does a tear mend itself or maybe flap back so it is hidden?
- is laser treatment to stop the tear a dangerous treatment? Should one go to the best - say in Moorefield?
Any help would be appreciated.
