WEAK RETINA

Tags: High Myopia
hi,i really need some advice.im 28 years old.Iv had a got a very high myopia since i was 7 years old its still moving up a litlle at the moment its -22 in one eye and -26 in the other.Last month a got a black dot like a floater i made a appointment with the eye speclist who said i the floater was because of PVD in my left eye.he also checked there was no tears or holes in my retina and there wasnt,he did say the retina in both eyes was a bit weak.Wgat are the chances of me getting a tear in my retina because of my really bad sight.i havnt got any other problems at the moment but im really scared that i will go blind at a early age or im going to have other problems.I was doing some research on the internet about a lens exchange would you recommend that or would it be to risky as i have a weak retina.i currently wearing contacts lenses and glasses which are not causing me a problem. So i dont know what to do carry on with contacts and glasses or have some sort of treatment? pls help!! also is there anything i can do to prevent my retina to become more weak.is it ok to carry on with day to day jobs like driving, going to the gym because i have three kids under the age of 6 and my life is quite hectic!! should i slow down?

Some e-mail internet etiquette:  All caps is shouting.

F/u every 6 months,  No contact sports.  Be careful with tennis, hand ball, etc.

Stay with the contacts.  Your chance of an RD even with those numbers are small.  You need careful follow up and if you have any change you need to see your doctor ASAP.  It would be best to be followed by retinal specialist for the retina and a general ophthalmologist for your contacts and general check.
